Transformations
I’m so excited to share this project because it truly brings me so much happiness! Our front hallway recently underwent a major transformation, and I realized how much of the process was shaped by what I’ve learned through my training and the support from my amazing community. This project was a beautiful reminder that we get to choose how our spaces make us feel—and for me, I chose joy!
Our front hallway used to have a standard closet with mirrored sliding doors. It had become the typical drop zone for coats, shoes, and random items that didn’t really have a home. Every time I opened the door, it felt cramped and overwhelming. I’d always been drawn to the idea of an open-concept closet, but I wasn’t sure how to make it functional and beautiful.
That’s when I decided it was time to take action and give this space the makeover it deserved!
Here’s how we rethought the space to make it feel light, organized, and—most importantly—joyful:
We started by emptying the entire closet and removing one of the shelves and the hanging rod. Since we have a main-floor laundry room with extra space for coats, I realized we didn’t need all those bulky items in the front hall. The white space we created by clearing things out felt instantly freeing! It gave the whole area a fresh start, with a lot less clutter weighing it down.
Next, we removed the mirrored doors and relocated them to our basement workout area. (We kept the door track and parts in case we ever want to put the doors back for resale purposes.) Then Don—okay, mostly Don 😄—patched up the walls, and I painted the shelves to give them a fresh, clean look.
I wanted to give the space a little personality, so we added peel-and-stick wallpaper to the main wall. I love the design so much that I’m planning to use the leftover paper to line the shelves as well. It’s amazing how something as simple as wallpaper can make such a big impact, all without a huge investment!
To make the space more functional, we brought in an IKEA entertainment unit and added baskets for organization. The large gray baskets are from IKEA, and the smaller patterned ones are from Walmart. Grouping items together in baskets (like-with-like) helped us stay organized, and anything that didn’t fit into a basket was an easy decision to donate. I’ve learned that a little constraint can really help us focus on what truly serves us!
I’m still on the lookout for the perfect coat hooks to add to the wall. I want something that fits the feel of the space and makes good use of the vertical space. Once everything is in its final place, I’ll label the baskets to make it even easier to stay organized. Labeling is such a simple but powerful way to keep things tidy.
Now, when you open our front door, you’re greeted by this bright, open space—and it makes my heart sing! This transformation truly sets the tone for our home and reflects how I want to feel when I walk through the door: calm, joyful, and clutter-free.
And the best part? The entire project cost around $350—proof that you don’t need to spend a fortune to create a space that makes you happy. I also had a good laugh when I realized most of the random items in the closet were mine! 😅
This project was a beautiful reminder that we get to choose how our homes feel. By rethinking your space, clearing out what no longer serves you, and adding touches that spark joy, you can create a home that makes you smile every single day.

''I highly recommend her for your
next organizational project!''
''Everyone needs a non-judgmental “best friend” who will work shoulder-to-shoulder with you as you work toward your organizational goals. Julie is that best friend. In the kindest and gentlest way, Julie helped me work through a large project in smaller, more manageable tasks. She kept me focused on the task at hand, dealing with both the physical and emotional attachment I had with some of the items I had held on to for much too long. Whether it’s a short-term or long-term project, Julie can help you get to the finish line! I highly recommend her for your next organizational project!'' - Kathy
''She opened my mind to new tools and strategies into my daily life''
''My experience with Julie was incredible. She is a kind, calming, safe space. I enjoyed the exercise we did together. It really help me view my emotions from a different perspective. She knew what questions to ask and how to help me analyze my feelings. She’s educated in what she does. I would love to do it again with her!! She opened my mind to new tools and strategies into my daily life. ❤️❤️❤️''- Kate
''It quickly gave me perspective on how I allow my emotions take control''
''The exercise was quick and effective. It quickly gave me perspective on how I allow my emotions take control. It’s interesting how I had immediate answers to the questions I was asked. I can only speak for myself, but this changed my thoughts for that day and I was present. I did continue to think about the exercise the following day and tried to remember how I felt when I answered the questions. I believe it was effective. I plan on using that exercise or at least remember what I answered when I feel like I’m spiraling or overthinking my thoughts'' - Maritza
''I feel about myself and take care of myself is related to so many aspects of my life, including my relationships and decluttering my home.''
''Being in this community with Julie’s guidance has helped me to understand about Self Care and Self Love, two concepts that were very foreign to me. I get it know, and I’m learning more all the time about how the way I feel about myself and take care of myself is related to so many aspects of my life, including my relationships and decluttering my home.'' - Laura
